FOOTPRINTS IN THE SAND
One night a man had a dream.
He dreamed he was walking along the beach with the LORD.
Across the sky flashed scenes from his life.
For each scene, he noticed two sets of footprints in the sand: one belonging to him, and the other to the LORD.
When the last scene of his life flashed before him, he looked back at the footprints in the sand.
He noticed that many times along the path of his life there was only one set of footprints.
He also noticed that it happened at the very lowest and saddest times of his life.
This really bothered him and he questioned the LORD about it.
“LORD, You said that once I decided to follow you, You would walk with me all the way.
But I have noticed that during the most troublesome times of my life, there is only one set of footprints.
I don’t understand why when I needed You most You would leave me.”
The LORD replied, “My son, My precious child, I love you and I would never leave you.
During your times of trial and suffering, when you see only one set of footprints, it was then that I carried you.

ある晩、一人の男が夢を見た。
夢の中で、彼は神と並んで浜辺を歩いていた。
空の彼方に、これまでの人生が浮かんでは消えた。
どのシーンも、砂の上には二列の足跡が残された。
ひとつは彼のもの、もうひとつは神のもの。
己が人生の終幕が眼前に浮かび上がった。
その時、彼はふり返り、砂の上の足跡を見つめた。
我が人生の道程にたった一列の足跡しかない場所が幾つもあることに彼は気づいた。それが極度に落ち込み、悲嘆に暮れていた時のものであることにも。
彼は戸惑い、神に尋ねた。
「神様、私があなたに全てを委ねて生きると決めた時、あなたはずっと私と共に歩いて下さると仰せになりました。しかし、私の人生で最も辛かった時には、いつも一列の足跡しかありません。私があなたの助けを最も必要とした時、あなたが私をお見捨てになった理由が私にはわかりません」
神は答えた。
「我が子よ、 かけがえのない我が子よ、 私はあなたを大切にしている。 あなたを見捨てたことは一度もない。あなたが試練と苦難のさなかにいた時、一列の足跡しかないのは、私があなたを背負って歩いたからだ」
モデルは旧約聖書？
律法五書の最後を飾るこの書物はまだ日本に文字が存在しなかった紀元前7世紀頃に編纂されたと言われている。ラブレター!?
